Anatomy of a Reese: from two saws to a monster
Everyone wants the Reese. Few split it properly. A short field guide to the most important bass in the genre.

The Reese is not a preset, it is a technique. Two detuned saws, a bit of movement, and — the part most people skip — a clean split between the sub and the mids.
Keep the bottom mono
Everything below ~120 Hz should be a single mono layer, dead centre. A sine or a filtered copy of the Reese. Nothing stereo lives down there; it just smears on a big system.
Let the top breathe
Above the split, spread the mid and high content wide and let it move. Automate a notch to track the note and the boxiness disappears without thinning the higher registers.
Sidechain the mids — not the sub — to the kick and snare, and the whole thing punches through a busy drop.
